Soon we will be uploading a new newsletter - we have now completed 17 tooling conversions to CRE machines and all operating very successfully. Following the closure of Threesixty Extrusion Technology we have taken over the task of commissioning one of the lines that was not completed and can offer support to all machines supplied by them.

Confex supply all types of CRE tooling and dies

September 2012

In addition to our normal day to day work of supplying tooling, dies and spare parts for Continuous Rotary Extrusion (CRE) machines Confex also provide consultancy services on everything from major machine upgrades to tooling conversions of BWE and Chinese CRE machines allowing them to run flash free with improved product quality when extruding aluminium products.

To date Confex have converted fourteen CRE machines to operate flash free when extruding aluminium products.

Recent projects include

1 – Assistance in investigating the source of oxides in Copper profiles and how to minimise or avoid them.

2 – Technical assistance on re-furbishing a Holton C400 and to upgrade the tooling to modern standards, we also assisted with the installation, commissioning and training. Confex continue to support this customer with spare parts and tooling and continued product development.

3 – Aluminium tube development – a highly experienced and successful customer needed assistance to develop a new product and the improvements made to lower extrusion pressure gave many benefits such as lower extrusion and die temperature, improved product quality and enhanced grain structure.

4 – Complete tooling conversion of a CRE machine to Confex style aluminium tooling.

5 – Tooling conversion of a Chinese Dalian 350 to run flash free, product quality is greatly improved and product change down to 20 minutes
